Frequently Asked Questions
How we offer affordable architecture for everyone
By providing you with a number of affordable architectural house plans to select from, it is our aim to reduce the stress and challenge that can come with designing and building a home. However there will always be questions that need answering, here are some of the top questions we get asked…
Why don’t you list prices on your website?
As there are so many variables, such as location, ground condition, cladding type and so forth, we do not want to give false hope by understating costs at this early stage. Once we have spoken to you about your project we will be in a better position to advise you of costings.
Are the plans customisable?
Essentially we can design and build anything, so yes our plans can be customised however there will be additional costs involved in doing this.
I have a site but don’t know which house type will work best?
Please send us a message and send the address so that we can have a look at the site on Google Maps and provide an indication of what we believe will work best.
What is the process?
Bringing affordability to the design process we provide three ranges of homes, Smart, Cube and Vintage, each with a number of unique floor plans for you to select from. Once you have selected your ideal floor plan we put you in touch with one of our local builders.
Like a traditional build, your build contract will be between yourself and the builder. For more click here.
Who will be my builder?
Local to your area we partner with builders who have experience constructing high quality architecturally designed homes. In some areas we work with a number of different builders so who your builder is may be subject to availability.
My family member is a tradesman can they put in a tender to do the work?
No, in order for the builder to provide their guarantee’s they need to work with established relationships.
Are the builders licensed?
All of our builders are licensed under the Licensed Building Practitioner Scheme (LBP) required by New Zealand law. Some builders do hold other further licenses, for example they are Registered Master Builders.
What materials are used?
Our designs will either be constructed on a concrete slab or timber piles depending on the ground conditions of your site. We then offer a number of different packages to suit different budgets, which allow you to select your cladding materials and so forth.
Are the builders Health and Safety trained?
All the builders are currently up to date with the health and safety requirements.
What finishes can I choose?
We have packages available that will meet most budgets. These will be supplied after the phone/email discussion, giving you time to think about this before meeting your builder.
How long will it take to build my house?
Every house build is different, although once consent is issued we endeavour to commence building immediately the timeframe for the build will be dependent on the location and conditions on site.
All the houses are too small I want something bigger? Or perhaps more elaborate.
Our designs are driven by an awareness of space efficiency and considered, effective design solutions. By creating more efficient internal spaces, we are able to reduce the floor area and therefor the overall costs. However we are able to create larger floor plans, and more elaborate designs should you wish. Simply get in touch with us to discuss the options.
